CNC Estimator

Job Profile
This full-time position is responsible for providing accurate quotes to customers. This position uses ERP software to enter estimated machine times, derive prices, and summarize desired methods to machinists. The ideal candidate will work to grow our volume of work within established customer bases. Company provides excellent benefits including 401(k) and competitive salary dependent on experience.


Job Functions

  • Reports to Vice President
  • Collaborates with General Manager and other CNC Estimators to improve processes and accuracy
  • Responsible for quoting estimated costs from customer prints or CAD files
  • Communicates prices, capabilities, and deadlines to customers
  • Negotiates professionally
  • Proposes efficient design alterations to customers
  • Recommends most efficient machining practices
  • Verifies costs of outside processes and materials
  • Considers how to quality check accuracy of parts

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5 years of experience machining precision parts with CNC and manual machines
  • 3 years of experience with troubleshooting precision machined parts
  • Extensive knowledge of tooling types and machining types
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Experience with ERP software
  • Ability to coordinate multiple deadlines and projects
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Motivated and professional attitude

Candidates selected for in-person interviews will be given examples of recently completed parts, and asked to estimate the machining time required and explain which types of machining were used.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • 3 years of experience estimating/quoting in CNC machine shop
  • 3 years of experience in a leadership role
  • 3 years of experience supervising machinists
  • Experience in a job shop environment
  • Experience in a LEAN manufacturing setting
  • Extensive knowledge of CAD programs such as SolidWorks, DraftSight, various DelCAM products, and AutoCAD

Job Shop Machinist

Job shop type position, making small quantities of prototype and tool & die parts, using a wide variety of machines in our shop. We will train the candidate to run the OMAX waterjet and Sodick wire EDM. Eventually the job could also entail digitizing parts with our portable laser scanner, reverse engineering them and then manufacturing the replacement parts.
We are willing to consider recent graduates from a qualified tool & die or machining program as well as more experienced individuals. Applicants must have:

  • Self-motivation and ability to work independently or in a group
  • Ability to communicate with supervisors and customers
  • Ability to operate all of the standard machine tool equipment
  • Ability to program CNC manually and with CAD/CAM software
  • Ability to read prints and CAD files and make some adjustments to those files
  • Strong mechanical skills
  • Strong math skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to lift 70 lbs
  • Desire to participate in continued training

Entry Level Machining Apprentice

Learn how to be a machinist with on-the-job training. Our shop has a wide variety of machines from conventional Mills and Lathes to more unconventional Waterjets, EDM and 5-Axis Mills. Start by learning how to operate a machine and read a print and progress to doing setups and programming.
Applicants must have:

  • Self-motivation and ability to work independently or in a group
  • Ability to communicate with supervisors and customers
  • Strong computer skills
  • Strong mechanical skills
  • Strong math skills
  • Some CAD training would be helpful, but not required
  • Ability to lift 70 lbs
  • Desire to participate in continued training
