When looking for a CNC precision machining partner, it’s essential to find a shop that’s the right fit. At the most basic level, the shop must have the capabilities you need. But capabilities aren’t the only things that matter. You also need to make sure the shop’s general approach to serving customers works for you.
At Wagner Machine, we prioritize clarity and communication, from quoting through delivery. That means you’ll hear from us a lot—probably more than you’re used to hearing from other shops. Here’s more on what the Wagner experience is like and why we’re confident it’s the ideal approach.
Our Guiding Principle: Don’t Make Assumptions
When you request a quote from our CNC precision machine shop, we’ll likely respond with clarifying questions before proceeding. The reason is simple:
We don’t ever want to make assumptions.
We’ve found that taking an extra 5-10 minutes at the beginning of a project to get on the same page enables us to provide an accurate quote and get your part right the first time.
Our commitment to clarity and communication continues from there. We’ll check in with you throughout the manufacturing process if there are any questions and to alert you of any roadblocks we encounter.
If you prefer that we take a more hands-off approach, feel free to let us know up front. For instance, one customer told us they’d rather we send them a quick quote with notes to clarify any details we thought were important instead of asking questions before providing the quote. We were happy to accommodate this request.
Understanding the end-use application
Whenever possible, we like to have at least a general idea of a part’s end-use application— another thing that helps us maintain clarity about your project and avoid making assumptions. Including relevant assembly models with an RFQ is often very helpful to clarify small details.
We always meet your required tolerances, but we might use this additional information for internal clarification on little details that are often missed on engineering drawings. Max allowable corner radii on turned parts and minimum required thread depths are common examples. If we are not 100% certain on something, the assembly files can often help us ask clearer and more relevant questions.
Maintaining excellent documentation
We often run across details that are important for maintaining a consistent manufacturing process, but are not important to the functionality of the part. We also run into situations where customers request that we help define a specific feature, dimension, or surface finish. We keep detailed records of these features and inspection processes even if they are not officially added to the customer print. This ensures parts are made to the same specification on future orders.
Personal CNC Precision Machining Service You Can Count On
Because we pride ourselves on our excellent communication, you can expect personalized service from Wagner that you won’t get from just any CNC precision machining partner. When you call our shop, a real person will answer the phone, and they can connect you with the right person to answer your question.
Throughout your relationship with us, you’ll get to know the people on our team, and they’ll get to know you. Our goal is to offer the advanced capabilities and technologies of a large shop while maintaining the personalized service and reliable responsiveness of a small shop.
If the Wagner experience sounds like the right fit for you, let’s work together. Request a quote to get started.
