Wagner Machine is proud to be part of an elite network of ISO and AS9100 machine shops. Since pursuing ISO 9001:2015 and AS9100 certifications in 2020, we’ve seen how maintaining them ensures better quality, consistency, and trust.

Standard Processes and Procedures
As most in the manufacturing world are aware, ISO 9001:2015 is a globally recognized standard for quality management. ISO certified shops must establish and maintain standard procedures for all the services they provide—from quoting to order entry to precision machining services to quality to shipping.
AS9100 is an aerospace-specific standard with additional requirements that are critical for high-risk aerospace manufacturing. For example, AS9100 machine shops must have processes in place for part specific material cert and scrap tracking. If a shop manufactures a bad aerospace part, they must be able to prove that they segregated that part and marked or destroyed it so that there’s no chance of it accidentally getting mixed in with the good parts.
Meticulously defining our processes ensures incredible consistency because each team member executes every process in the same way.
In fact, one of the biggest advantages of working with a certified shop is risk mitigation. Customers can be confident that we’re adhering to industry standards and know what to expect when working with us for precision machining services.
An Emphasis on the Details
ISO 9001:2015 and AS9100 certifications demand that shops pay attention to every last detail, which we have found builds incredible trust and confidence with customers.
Small things like maintaining a clean workbench or hanging tools in the right place may seem inconsequential to some, but not to us. We believe details matter across the board—no matter the process.
Why? Because a team that adheres to meticulous processes for even “unimportant” tasks stays on their toes at all times and most certainly won’t skirt processes when it comes to the most significant tasks.
Continuous Improvement across the Shop
Regular audits drive ISO and AS9100 machine shops to continuously improve. At Wagner Machine, we pride ourselves on thinking outside the box to solve complex problems for customers and make the impossible possible. Our certifications ensure that we’re also solving internal problems on an ongoing basis. In fact, continuous improvement of processes and our quality manual is one of the major things that is reviewed during our annual audits.
While we have improved in many areas since becoming ISO and AS9100 certified, one area that stands out is quality. Our inspection processes are more consistent than ever, and we maintain much clearer records of inspections on the shop floor and in the quality department.
Compliant vs. Certified: A Critical Distinction
It’s important to note that while many shops boast that they have ISO or AS9100 compliant processes and procedures, there’s a big distinction between being compliant and certified. Like many shops, we had great process control and inspection procedures before we got certified, but we also had many gaps. The certification process systematically required us to address every gap and tied everything together into a useful and traceable system.
At Wagner Machine, we now conduct internal audits on various processes on a regular basis throughout the year in addition to completing annual third-party audits to ensure compliance with ISO 9001:2015 and AS9100 standards. These standards reduce risk and improve our performance for all of our customers.
We’re Also ITAR Registered
In addition to being ISO and AS9100 certified, Wagner Machine is ITAR registered. ITAR registration requires that we maintain a compliance program regarding the export of items and transmission of technical data “designed, developed, adapted, or modified for military use under the United States Munitions List (USML).”
You can rest assured that the rigorous ISO 9001:2015, AS9100, and ITAR processes and procedures we’ve developed positively impact all the jobs we take on—no matter the industry. That means when you work with Wagner Machine, you always benefit from our adherence to the strictest industry standards for quality and security.
